At Format we are committed to supporting various initiatives in both our community and environment. Format’s environmental policy is a living document - an ever-evolving process that requires as much thought, policing, and enforcement as our Compliance policies.
Community
We contribute by sponsoring with our time, funds and other resources to a wide range of projects. These initiatives span from the environment, to sport, education and new ventures. We also consistently make contributions to various small hard-working organisations that have a positive effect on the environment.

Environment
Format has been progressively implementing its environmental policy. We believe responsible and proactive business is crucial for the survival of our planet. And we are making conscientious changes in the way we operate as a part of our social and environmental responsibility. We created the ‘Our World’ brand www.ourworld.org.nz, which stands at the heart of our commitment to sustainability. Reducing our carbon footprint, cutting down on waste and becoming more discerning consumers.
We are consistently finding new ways to improve our sustainability. There is no need to wait for a rating to adopt green initiatives. With the willingness of the whole team, a multi-disciplinary approach and greater up-front planning, it is easy to incorporate sustainable features in building projects.
We have made great inroads in sustainable housing, public facilities, schools and offices, but much more could be done. Format is always pushing the green envelope. It has been a privilege to partner with The National Bank for their ground breaking environmentally friendly branch at Blockhouse Bay, Waitakere City. We envision a time, when such environmentally friendly practices, become more widely accepted in the community.
