Case Study - Minimal Disruption

High-Rise Campus Fitout with Difficult Access, and Minimal Disruption

Central city campus required strip out of 4 existing floors and fitout as classrooms and lecture rooms and breakout areas, in an occupied central city high-rise.

This project presented many access, and health and safety challenges of working in above-ground floors of a busy central-city office block. There were site-specific health and safety issues, and concerns to protect existing building elements. Site access was limited for delivery of building material and rubbish removal. While, minimising disruption to the client and other building occupants was a major concern.

Avoiding disruption with an after-hours crane

We overcame the access challenges by scheduling all building material deliveries out of business hours, and by using a crane to deliver them to the appropriate floors. We also used the crane to remove rubbish (also outside business hours). This avoided disruption to any normal business activities in the building, carpark and neighbouring streets. We completed the contract on time and to budget.
