Construction Around The Elderly With Dementia
The elderly care environment required special safety considerations. A typical working situation was the refurbishment of a kitchen servery, in a special care unit, that is home for elderly female residents with dementia. The job involved demolishing wall joinery and re-building work, adjacent to living and dining areas that were occupied at all times.
Teamwork, Standard Procedures and Twice-Daily Liaison
Our ability to work in a team environment was highly significant to the success of our lengthy contract with this client. We held regular twice-daily liaison meetings with management and nursing staff. usually on a half-daily basis. We took a team approach to develop specific standard procedures, governing how we could work safely in this unique environment. We were able to ensure the complete safety of all the elderly residents. The work was completed safely, on time and on budget. The client was exceedingly pleased with the outcome.
